Appendix IENGLISH AND LATIN NAMES OF VASCULARPLANTS MENTIONED IN THE BOOKWe have listed the names of the vascular plant species mentioned in the textin alphabetical order. The English names are given as they appeared inquoted papers, followed by their Latin names. Our purpose has been merelyto identify the litter species used by giving the Latin name, being aware ofthat not only American and English names sometimes diVer but also thatdiVerent dictionaries give diVerent names.
