Andrey Ashmarin

Every generation has its pioneers - for Russia in the early 21st century badminton scene, that beacon of innovation was undoubtedly Andrey Ashmarin. Born on 1984-02-12 in Moscow, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union, Ashmarin forged ahead into the doubles arena of the sport, specialising in men's and mixed doubles. Driven by a relentless pursuit of skill and synergy, he climbed to a career-high world ranking of 59 in men's doubles on 2010-07-08 and 64 in mixed doubles the same day. The result of this effort was a standout performance at the 2013 Russia Open, where he and partner Vitalij Durkin finished runner-up in men's doubles. Beyond that peak, he claimed victories in multiple International Challenge/Series tournaments-such as the 2006 Kalev International and the 2009 Kharkiv International-and maintained resilience despite stiff domestic competition and the ever-present pressure of representing his country.
