Every generation has its pioneers - for Greece in the early 2000s musical renaissance, that beacon of innovation was undoubtedly Cayetano. Born on 29 August 1977 in Thessaloniki, he immersed himself early in music and by 1995 already played with indie bands, laying the groundwork for a journey steeped in creative restlessness.

In 1996 he joined the band Stroggylo Kitrino ("The Round Yellow"), which produced two albums by 1999. Years later, this foundation catalyzed his move to Barcelona. During the early 2000s, he collaborated with Spanish groups, composed for theatre and film, and gradually shaped his solo vision under the moniker Cayetano - blending jazz, trip‑hop, downtempo, and electronic textures.

His debut vinyl, Mr. White (2001), followed by the self‑titled Cayetano (2003), quietly attracted attention; but it was Focused (2006) - released on his own label - that resonated across Europe. That album earned him widespread radio airplay and a nomination for the French "Prix Radiophonie," propelling him into the continental consciousness.

It was during this decade that he forged his identity as a live performer. In 2009 he released The Big Fall, embracing darker, more mature moods, and in 2010 followed with Back Home, marking the start of extensive touring.

By 2012, the project matured into a full group: the Cayetano Live Band, delivering rich, organic performances that merged studio sophistication with live energy. With later works such as Once Sometime (2012), The Right Time (2015), Melanie (2018), and A Million Faces (2022), he expanded his sonic palette - weaving soulful grooves, ambient textures, and rhythmic depth.

Although critics and peers sometimes compared him to well‑established contemporaries in electronic and trip‑hop - a flattering but heavy burden - he stayed true to an independent, uncompromising path. Despite the pressure to commercialize or follow trends, he persisted in cultivating a sound defined by introspection, groove, and emotional weight.

Today, his legacy stands as a testament to how one artist can challenge boundaries, reimagine genres, and offer listeners new paths through sound and soul. Their story stands as a timeless reminder that true innovation often begins with resilience, unwavering belief, and a willingness to CHALLENGE.
