Hila Fahima

In an era defined by global cultural exchange and renewed appreciation for traditional opera, Hila Fahima emerged as a force that completely redefined contemporary coloratura singing. Born in 1987 in Karmiel, Israel, she studied at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance under the tutelage of Agnes Massini. Her voice took flight early: at age 7 she began formal lessons, inspired by her older sister, and during her studies she already performed roles such as Adele in Strauss's Die Fledermaus, Susanna in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Belinda in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, and Frasquita in Bizet's Carmen. Her professional breakthrough came in 2010 with the world premiere of Alice in Wonderland at the Israeli Opera - she sang the title role. That same year she won the 1st prize at the European competition DEBUT Competition. A few years later, after gaining roles at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, she joined the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera in the 2013/14 season. She delivered luminous performances as Queen of the Night, Zerbinetta, Gilda in Rigoletto, Oscar in Un ballo in maschera, Adina in L'elisir d'amore, and Princesse Eudoxie in La Juive. Critics praised her "sublime instrument" and "astonishing range," noting how her singing "weaves a tapestry of emotions." Years later, she expanded into leading roles such as Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor at major European houses. She released a solo album (2021) featuring arias by Donizetti and Verdi, met with wide acclaim for its clarity, agility, and expressive depth.
