Novus Quality System The Novus Quality System encompasses a collection of documentation and process surrounding management review, integrity, training, product development and manufacture of products. The Novus Quality System assures that our customers around the world are sold products in which they can be confident. As part of this system, raw material specifications, manufacturing specifications and sales specifications ensure that all manufacturing plants adhere to the parameters we set forth. The manufacturing specifications may include product appearance, particle size, moisture, uniformity and active ingredients. The sales specifications summarize the functionality of the product and provide the customer with the characteristics that Novus will guarantee about the product. As an example, from the beginning of the manufacturing process, Novus develops raw material specifications. We conduct a minor impurities analysis to ensure that raw materials are free of undesirable substances, such as heavy metals. Manufacturing specifications assure compliance to the sales specifications, determined through input provided by Novus Marketing and Sales. The product can then be delivered to the customer with a guaranteed functionality. These specifications benefit Novus and our customers. Oneexample is our patented AutomatedInventory Management System (AIMS).Simply put, AIMS includes a sensor and a tankthat supplies ALIMET to a feed mill or mixer. Novusmonitors the level of the tank and automaticallyreplenishes the bulk liquid supply as needed, creating business efficiencies for our customers.Novus pioneered vendor-managed inventoryfor feed industry bulk liquids in 1993. Sincethen, AIMS has improved supply chainefficiency and reduced environmentalimpact through the reduction of intermediatebulk container (IBC) and drum usage. In 2009, we upgraded the AIMS infrastructure. The new version of AIMS uses satellitecommunication with a submersible differentialpressure sensor for level measurement. Thenew platform provides precise and dependableinventory readings, a back-up power supplyand a local display of tank inventory.Novus customers can monitor their tankinventory levels and usage through the localdisplay as well as on the Internet viaNovus monitors the ALIMET level in AIMSNovus Premium Services at www.novusint.comtanks and automatically replenishes the supplyfor customers as needed.Novus International, Inc. Tough and flexible, NovusRecyclable, Low Densitybags can be printed onPolyethylene (LDPE)with water-based inks Continuous Improvement: Packagingthat do not use solvents Many Novus products are delivered to our customersor heavy metalsin bagsmore than 2 million per year. Last year, we understood that we had a real opportunity to improve our impact on the environment by taking a creative look at our product packaging. We formed a cross- departmental task force to research our options and to make recommendations for improvement. There were key considerations as we began to plan. Novus bags must be durable because they are shipped all over the world. They must be strong because they commonly hold 25 kilograms, or 55 pounds, of product. Finally, our bags must feature multilingual, printed text that is educational for customers and meets the regulatory requirements of importing countries. We worked with the American Feed Industry Association (AFIA) to ensure our bag design supported the Safe Feed / Safe Food initiative. The result is a bag made of recyclable, low- density polyethylene (LDPE). It is tough, flexible and can be printed on with water-based inks that do not use solvents or heavy metals. In 2009, we began using this bag to fill all shipments of our MINTREX and ACTIVATE products. This is the beginning of a multi-year process in which we will roll out the new bag design through our family of over 100 products. Each year, Novus ships more than 2 million bags of product to customers.KPI: EC2 and EN26Novus International, Inc.
